last week i had the privilege of once again working with some awesome people to make another 24 hour film here in Toronto. here is what we came up with: The Big Break.
on a technical stand point, this film fest turned out a lot better than the last one. there was a lot more stress, and pressure through out the whole day on our previous film, however on this film i didn’t start feeling that towards the dead line. after doing 1 24 film before, we learned from our mistakes, and reorganized our approach in ways that would increase our speed in the editing workflow (i’m talking mainly from an editing standpoint as that was my role). To help speed things up, we added a script supervisor who was on set for the whole time writing down, and clapping every take to make syncing easier, but as well as help make rough cutting easier. for me it was as simple as dumping the audio from the external zoom recorder, pulling the card from the camera, looking for only the takes we needed, and converting that through canon eos plugin and then syncing using the clapboard visually and audibly. that right there, saved us so much time. i can’t believe we hadn’t done it before.
this film was shot all on ziess lenses (my favourite glass) and the 7d.
